Have You Listed Your Business on Google Local Yet?

The world is going mobile or should I say, it already has gone mobile. People are accessing the internet more and more with their mobile phones these days and soon a time will come, when the data accessed using mobile phones will almost equal the data consumed using the computers.

In these circumstances, when a large number of people always have access to the internet, local search becomes all the more relevant since people want to know what all is their within 5-10 kilometers from where they are. This is where Google Places comes in.

Google Places is a map based business directory containing data about all the businesses of a particular type. It is highly unlikely that you haven’t come across it already since whenever you do a local search, (an example search string could be: “Website Development California”). Google can automatically detect which search string is a local search and thereby shows a relevant list of companies on the map. These results generally are highly relevant to your search and as such these have the potential to produce massive traffic to your site if you provide any service or product which has some local relevance.

In face, I can say for sure that these search results will become even more relevance by the end of 2011 and the early birds who will claim their listing and gain knowledge of how to be at the top of the listing will be the biggest gainers.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your listing today or let us do it for you for just 50 bucks. :P

Adios.

  1. This is great! I hadn’t heard of Google Places just yet. I tend to be one of those smaller users that gets used to what they know, and is content with that. It’s time for me to expand my explorations, however.

    Thanks for the heads up!

In 2012 approximately half of the smartphones will be running on Android. Google also plan to change the monetization of YouTube and in particular to provide about 20 premium channels (you will have to pay) offer similar services to traditional channels of sports, series, movies etc.. Am I the only one to worry about the enormous growth of what was originally a search engine. Google is developing its tentacles everywhere. Soon the company will impose its law to states. ( My apologies for the english i’m French!)

  10. I recently listed my business in google places, and it was a relatively easy to do to.

I agree that local search is quickly becoming more important.
Something else thats worth considering if your business is try to attract local mobile search, is that your business website needs to be mobile friendly.

As its not much point being found on mobile search if your site is hard to navigate or use on a mobile device.
